How can we teach history and a second language at the same time?

Content based learning integrates both, academic subjects and the learning of a second language in the process.

Reflection

When teaching a language it is crucial to know the purposes of our students for learning it. Do they want to learn because they are going to travel to an English speaking country? Do they need to learn it because of work related issues? Are they learning English because they are going to be future teachers? The intention of the learner will set the content of our class, meaning that content based approach will be present in any course we teach. If I want to teach English to a pilot I will probably choose content concerning airplanes and engineering and I will probably not choose vocabulary proper of other sciences such as psychology.
