Essay: A constructivist or a behaviourist class? Or a mix of both?"

One major factor that must be considered when teaching is the actual conception of “learning” and the understanding of “learning process”. Behaviorism and its classical conditioning are concerned with observable behavior. In other words, what matters the most inside the classroom is that students acquire the desired conduct and learn everything they are being taught.

On the other hand, constructivism pays attention to the building of knowledge. This means that the most important factor to take into account is the manner in which students learn, not the product itself but the means to acquire new knowledge.

To go further into the subject, I have written a brief essay about these 2 approaches.

Reflection

As shown in the essay I believe that there should be a mix of both methods inside the classroom. A constructivist approach is an excellent way to demonstrate what is taught throughout a more traditional way of teaching. Practical knowledge must have a theoretical foundation; otherwise, we will be teaching mechanical ways to solve specific problems.
